Seniors Social Meet

CARE Collective hosted its first in-person senior social event, Green Horizons, on December 13, 2025, in Newark. The event saw a strong turnout, with seniors enjoying meaningful connection over snacks and chai. Participants created holiday greeting cards and assembled kindness kits using donated warm items for the Alameda Winter Shelter.

An open-mic session surfaced shared needs and solutions, with transportation and healthcare emerging as key themes. The event concluded with a relaxing chair yoga session led by Ramya, offering a calming and uplifting close to the gathering.

Hygiene Kits Drive

In August 2025, CARE Collective, led by volunteer Padma Prakash, conducted a hygiene kit drive that collected supplies such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, Neosporin, and toilet tissue to assemble 70 hygiene kits.

These kits were distributed on September 14, 2025, to low-income seniors and unhoused individuals in San Jose, supported by the San Jose Peace and Justice Center, helping support basic health, dignity, and well-being in the community.

Other Needs

On Christmas Eve 2025, CARE Collective served meals at the Alameda Winter Shelter, bringing warmth and care to community members in need.

Gift bags filled with cozy essentials—thoughtfully assembled by seniors during the December 13, 2025 Senior Social Event—were distributed, extending compassion and connection during the holiday season.
