Go Go Grandparent

An international organization that facilitates senior-friendly Uber/Lyft rides. The service can be availed either via direct membership or using city-specific subsidies.

Cost

This is a membership-based service (costing anywhere from $12 to $410 monthly, depending on plan features).

NOTE: Some cities collaborate with Go Go Grandparent to a) eliminate the membership fees and b) provide a small subsidy for each ride – up to a limit. Wherever available, it might be more economical to use the ride service via your city. Check your county- or city- listings above.

The service can also be used directly by enrolling as a member (instead of via the city-provided facility). Doing so may provide access to additional services of Go Go Grandparent, but may also incur additional costs.

  • Most cities and suburbs.

Uber Assist

Uber Assist is an assistance-enabled option from Uber. Available wherever Uber is available.

Available for a broad range of clientele and different accessibility needs, including those living with disability, older adults, pregnant people and people who are injured or ill. Simply select the “assist” option on your Uber app — a friend or family member can do this for you, too. Then, you can share your trip information with that friend or family member. Fares for Assist are the same as fares for UberX, which you can check online before scheduling your ride.

See https://www.uber.com/au/en/ride/assist/ for more details.

NOTE: Most cities and counties already have a program where Uber rides are subsidized. Check with them first to see if the assisted option is available.

Lyft Up

Assistance-enabled Lyft rides. Wherever Lyft is available.
The access program caters to older adults needing rides to and from grocery stores, farmers markets, food pantries, SNAP benefits appointments — pretty much anywhere you need to go.

See https://www.lyft.com/lyftup/programs for details.

NOTE: Most cities and counties already have a program where Lyft rides are subsidized. Check with them first to see if the assisted option is available.
